Barnet Shul Reopens

As the roadmap to reopening the country has now been announced we have taken the decision to finally reopen the shul. All services will resume from Kabbalat Shabbat, Friday 5th March.

However the United Synagogue under guidance from Public Health England have only relaxed the rules on who should attend from Monday 8th March. We will be following this advice so, until then we must ask all over 70s and children under 11 not to attend shul.

The good news is that from 8th March:

  • Those aged over 70 are welcome to attend services, provided 22 days have elapsed since their first Covid vaccination.

  • Those who are clinically vulnerable and/or aged over 50 should continue to take account of the enhanced risk to them pre-vaccination and for 22 days post vaccination. They should factor this into their decision-making on attendance.

  • Those who are extremely clinically vulnerable should not attend services at this time, even if they have been vaccinated.

  • From Shabbat, 13th March, the rules are also relaxed for children. Whilst no children or youth services are allowed at this stage, if you feel your child can safely sit with you and follow the guidance they are welcome in shul.
